Shakespeare’s Restaurant & Pub is a substantial, medieval-style castle at Olde Stonewall Golf Club in Ellwood City, Pennsylvania. With 33,000 sq ft of floorspace inside the castle, it is an impressive structure and certainly worth a visit if you're in the area. Weddings and events can also be held at the castle.
Being located on a golf course, the views of the surrounding countryside from the terraces are wonderful. Manicured fairways and greens are surrounded by densely wooded areas covering a total of 269 acres and it is one of the most highly rated public courses in the U.S. (Golf Magazine).
Internally, the castle has a 'casual medieval theme' – think dark wood panelling, suits of armor and atmospheric lighting in the pub. The larger function rooms have a slightly more modern appearance however they also have wood panelled walls on which large tapestries are displayed. As an American castle wedding venue, it's very impressive and would certainly help create a memorable day for you and your guests.
Designed by architect Joseph J. Balobeck, the castle took 13 months to construct and, together with a number of large boulders (2-7 tons) set in the grounds, the entire project utilized “600 million lbs. of rock“.
