Castle Rock in Garrison, New York is a castle-like, stone mansion set high on Castle Rock Hill in Castle Rock Park (see below for drone footage). Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977, the property was built in 1881 and is a well-known landmark in the area.
Prominently positioned with sweeping Hudson River views, the eye-catching residence stands out to the many hikers in the area due to its red slate roof, tower and circular turret with conical roof.
Castle Rock is a private residence and was last offered to the market in 2020 through Melissa Carlton of Houlihan Lawrence with an asking price of $3.45m.
In 2010, an extensive restoration of the castle's complicated roof structure was carried out by Clemco Construction & Restoration (click to read more on their website about the restoration process). On their post, they describe the property as 'one of the most recognizable man-made landmarks of the Hudson Highlands' and the location as offering 'One of the most beautiful views that we have ever witnessed on a job site'.
